Geography teaches an understanding of places and environments. In Key Stage 2, geography is about developing knowledge, skills and understanding relating to people, places and environments at different scales in the United Kingdom and overseas, as well as an appreciation of how places relate to each other and the wider world.
At Oldfield Juniors children learn how to draw and interpret maps and develop the skills of research, investigation, analysis and problem-solving. Through their growing knowledge and understanding of human geography children gain an appreciation of life in other cultures. Geography teaching also enables children to recognise the importance of sustainable development for the future of mankind.
