Extra Reading Resources:

We're putting together some extra reading resources if anyone would like to do any additional focused reading with their children at home. It follows our VIPERS reading initiative which takes place in school (V - Vocabulary, I - Inference, P - Prediction, E - Explanation, R - Retrieval and S - Summarising). We've organised them into three categories: WTS = Working Towards the Expected Standard, EXS = Expected and GDS = Greater Depth). We'll be adding to the collection periodically.

Term 2 "The End of the Viking Era"

We've traced the path of the Vikings from their humble roots as sailors, raiders and traders to the formation of the North Sea Empire under King Cnut. Now we have reached what is possibly regarded as one of the most tumultuous years in English history - 1066. Three powerful men will battle for the English throne spelling the end of the Viking Empire and the formation of many traditions and cultural shifts which will mark the dawning of a new age.

Term 2 Spellings

Below you will find the spellings for this term. There will be a weekly spelling "quiz" based on the words provided - the "quiz" will be out of twelve with six words being taken from each column. The words on the left tend to be simpler, more high-frequency words ensuring that all children can at least achieve half of the spellings.
