Evening Parents/Carers,

First and foremost I hope that you and yours have had a good weekend despite the challenges we face with the national lockdown.

As you may be aware the Y3/4 bubble at St John's Catholic Primary has, unfortunately, had a positive COVID case. As a result the 3 classes of approximately 90 children have had to self-isolate and will be so for the next 10 days. This has had an impact on the Goucher household as my youngest is in the Y4 at St John's. Needless to say, we are following the guidance and thankfully he is displaying no symptoms so the rest of the family can carry on as normal.

Given that St John's is not only geographically close to us, but also that a considerable number of our children may have mixed over the past few weeks (i.e. out of school clubs), please could you keep an eye on your child for any symptoms. Furthermore, and most importantly, please do not allow your child to meet, mix or play with any Y3/4 child from St John's. Indeed, this should be straightforward as those children should be isolating and indoors for the next two weeks.

Finally, it is fair to say that the next month or so will be challenging and we are doing our utmost at OPJS to make it as safe as possible whilst balancing the needs of our children. I would be most grateful if we could minimise risk as much as possible by not participating in any playdates or meeting in groups at the park. Thank you for your support in this.

As ever, thank you for your good faith and support and please do take care and stay safe.

Kind regards,
Mr Dave Goucher
Headteacher.
