We (Mr Newman, Mrs Samways and Miss Fox) are delighted to be leading the Year 4 team and are excited to be a part of the children's learning experiences this year. We are always around to support both you as parents and the children; if you need anything then don't hesitate to pop in and speak to one of us.
Please find on this page your child's homework, spellings, topic webs and letters for the year group as well as photo updates of their learning in school.
have made their children's books free to download, a great resource to share a story together.
Year 4 Homework
Home Learning WC 30th March
English/Topic - Poster on a chosen river from around the world
Please create a poster about a famous river. It could be from our local area or other countries around the world. We would like you to include the following information in your posters:
Tell us the location of your river – continent, country, hemisphere.
Tell us the length of the river from source to mouth.
Can you tell us any features you may find along the course of this river?
Are there any interesting facts about the river?
Think about splitting your writing up into separate information boxes. You will need to think about spellings, capital letters and the correct punctuation. Although it is a poster, your written work needs to be accurate and interesting.
Images and diagrams are a great tool for helping explain what you are talking about; however, we only want you to use one or two at the most.
When you have finished, take a picture and send it to your teacher on Seesaw or by email.
Doodle Maths – please continue to stay in the Green Zone!
This week's scores:
Japan – 70% in the Green Zone (2nd in OPJS)
Singapore – 58% in the Green Zone (5th in OPJS)
Times Tables Rock Stars – Take part in the Battle of the Bands between Japan and Singapore! This will start on Saturday and continue through the week. Which class will be victorious?
Feel free to use the link below to work through each lesson. Record any answers in your ‘Pink Workbooks’. There are five lessons so one a day will be fine if you wanted to use this.
Continue working through the 2do’s we assigned you last week. Some of the 2do’s are repeatable activities for you to practise and improve your scores.
Remember not to rush these activities, ensure you are challenging yourself to be accurate and include all the information needed.
Send us an image of you reading your current book, include a short summary to explain to others what the book is about.
Home Learning WC 23rd March
In light of the government's school closure announcement, we have created a series of tasks that can be completed at home.
We are asking the children to complete the following:
- Doodle Maths – All children have been asked if they need their logins, if they still cannot access Doodle Maths then contact Mr Newman for their details. Children will need to remain in the 'Green Zone'.
- Times Tables Rockstars - All children have their own personal log in stuck in the back of their Reading Records.
- Reading - Children to keep up with 5 reads per week.
- Purple Mash - The children have their own personal log in stuck in their Reading Records. Ensure your child has found our school before logging in with their details. The work will appear as an alert or in their '2do' folder. The work will need to be saved in their personal folders NOT their class folders. Please ensure children take their time to complete these tasks, ensuring they put in their best effort.
We are lucky enough to have been offered Doodle English and Doodle Spell in addition to Doodle Maths, you can use the same login to access these.
We would also recommend lots of family time! Play board games, read to each other, bake, watch films and critically analyse them together, make Easter cards, dance and sing.
Term 4 2019-2020 - The River's Journey
Mill On The Brue
It has been another successful day at Mill on the Brue. We have been on the zip wire, canoeing and getting muddy in the tunnels. On the locally sourced menu today we have had sausage and mash and home-made syrup sponge, indeed Mr Goucher rocked up for a portion too! We came together as a whole year group in the Colony Game and traded important goods to enjoy a campfire and hot chocolate (and marshmallows). We danced the night away, we danced our socks off and if we could we would still be dancing. The kids fell asleep in record time! Hooray! Looking forward to our last day tomorrow.
We have had an amazing first day here at Mill on the Brue! We have had the opportunity to search the rivers for creepy crawlies and other life and tried our hand at the assault course. The internet connection isn't great so we will have to keep the message short and sweet. Photos are being taken and will be uploaded at the earliest opportunity!
