Dear Parents/Carers,

First and foremost, thank you for all your help and support during this uniquely challenging year! The challenges continue and please do read the following information carefully.

On Tuesday 8th December we received an email from the DfE noting that all staff, parents and carers are aware of the following information and relevant arrangements regarding positive cases in the holidays. Here goes:

  • For the first 6 days after teaching ends (from Friday 18th December and up to Christmas Eve), if your child tests positive for coronavirus, having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school (i.e. on Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th December), then do contact me on:

head@oldfieldparkjuniorschool.com

We are being asked to assist identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as your child may have been infectious whilst in school.

  • If your child tests positive for coronavirus having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school do not contact OPJS. Please follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

I will, of course, check my email at regular intervals daily right up to and including Christmas Eve. I have everything crossed that it will be fine, however there is a risk that if we do have a positive case that falls in with the scenario highlighted in the first bullet point, then children and adults may have to self-isolate.

Regardless of the somewhat late information from the DfE, there will be no changes to the end of term arrangements. Indeed, the end of term will be Friday 18th December and we will continue with our relevant and appropriate safety procedures in place to try and ensure safe passage until then.

Finally, it just leaves me to thank you for your continued support during this time as well as again acknowledge what a cracking staff and children we have at OPJS. I am immensely proud of them all and of their efforts over 2020! Stay safe and take care.

With every good wish,
Mr Dave Goucher
Headteacher.
